How we work
Three things worth knowing first
Stated before the roles, because these are what a candidate would find out in month two otherwise.
Distributed, and small
A founder and an offshore collaborator. That is the whole team today, which means whoever joins next has an unusually direct view of every decision — and no layer to hide behind.
Written decisions
Consequential choices get written down with their reasoning. It is slower in the moment and it is the reason a question does not get relitigated three months later across two time zones.
Exam weeks are real
A few periods each year, the platform has to work and someone has to be reachable. We plan for those weeks explicitly rather than discovering them, and nobody is expected to absorb them silently.
Fit
What we look for
Behaviours rather than a years-of-experience threshold, which measures tenure and not much else.
You read the thing
The spec, the RFC, the failing test output. Most of what looks like a hard problem in assessment software is a detail somebody skimmed.
You treat access as correctness
An interface a candidate cannot use produces a wrong score. If that reads as a compliance matter rather than a measurement defect, this will be a frustrating place to work.
You say the awkward thing early
Including to a customer, and including when it is that we should not build what was asked for. Late honesty costs an exam window.
You finish things
Including the migration, the runbook and the unglamorous last ten percent that decides whether the first ninety was worth writing.
